I’m Mary James, a luxury hairstylist with over two decades in the beauty industry and the founder of The James Edit. I’ve been drawn to this craft for as long as I can remember — truly.

There’s photo proof of me at two years old doing my mom’s hair, blowdryer in one hand and round brush in the other. Not sure how I pulled that off, but the obsession clearly started early.

Licensed since 2001, hair has been my life’s work, shaped by years of advanced education, hands-on experience, and a deep respect for the craft.

I created The James Edit in honor of my father, James, and the legacy of steadiness, integrity, and care he left behind.

As a stylist myself, I understand the pressure that comes with being behind the chair and how much your client experience depends on what happens behind the scenes. My goal is to remove the stress from the hair portion of your service — to provide extensions you can trust, paired with customer service that truly shows up. So you can stay fully present with your client, confident, supported, and knowing I have your back.
